Finding myself...

Recently I've had some major ups and downs in my life! I wasn't sure what exactly I had to do to get out of the rut. Needless to say things got out of hand quickly, starting in my family environment - something I vowed would never happen. But as they say: Never is a long, long time.

I had to make a decision, and quickly. So my option was... instead of taking things out on my family, friends and colleagues at work, I'd take a break away from it all (called my manager and asked for 2 days off) and rather reflect inwards - and find myself! Yes, find myself.

I took the opportunity to reflect on what makes me tick... if all this was perhaps not just me being upset for not achieving specific goals, or being stuck in routine, or not being there for my family and friends. Anything was possible. And I noted that once I started making small changes in my life, I noticed changes in others.

Question is, WHY?  Because the way I started treating people surrounding me different, they started treating me different. And it all started with me!

Have you taken the time to invest in yourself? Especially as of late? I hope you find the time too! And you'll notice that even the slightest change in oneself can make a big difference around you. Every bit helps!

Routine: Kick in why don't you?

I never thought that I'd utter these words so soon... I mean, only last week I was still enjoying my leave cycle... but now that I'm back at work I just blurted it out this morning:

When is my routine kicking in again?

This  morning it was just one too many for me... I struggled to get out of bed, almost missed my train (as I use public transport). Its like there is not enough time in my day - the weekend just flew passed and I was unprepared for the Monday morning rush to get things done. Hopefully it will all just fall into place again... I just wanna play it safe and not bore myself in an old routine again... I should try and leave some space for a bit more family time, going out, exploring, etc.

But we know not all routines are flexible, right? So, what can you suggest?

I'm lovin it!

LOL! A certain catch phrase some of you might know... 8-)
Yes, now that I'm back using public Transport - its like I'm
a whole new person! And I'm truly lovin' it!!!

MacDonalds - I'm lovin' it!

I've got EXTRA time on my hands (both in the mornings
and in the afternoons!). So much so that I'm contemplating
my routine... Actually, since I am not travelling in by car anymore,
I think that my routine has changed already! Eish!

Take for instance: I take an early train - similar to the time
I'd have left home - but get to Cape Town station well before
I normally would have been looking for a parking space.

SO... this morning I decided to treat myself to a
MacDonalds Sausage Egg MacMuffin, with free cofee @ R14-95!

Sausage Egg MacMuffin - with free coffee @ R14-95

Now that's the life! And I still make it to work with time to spare!
Easy, relaxing, stress-free, no rush! AMEN to that!

Monday Blues

The weekend came and gone. And not even Friday the 13th caused us much harm - I hope! And today we were confronted with the other scare: BLUE MONDAY. Who actually started that? Why do we consider certain days unlucky, others blue? Is there perhaps a lucky day? What shall it be? Wednesday? LOL! Who knows? Did everyone cast their vote when the names for days came out?

All I know is that even if I plan for something - things turn out differently - most of the time for the better! And before you know it - WHAM - routine creeps in and hits you squarely in the face. Have you been introduced to ROUTINE? Normally it comes with kids. Once you set your goals for the children, it just makes the world of sense you conform to the norm... such is nature. Its in our being. And before you know it - you're spending most of your time watching the Disney Junior Channel, and there's no escape! HELP!

Today also signalled the first day back to school for yet another semester for the children. And let me tell you - I felt it on the roads... travelling to work took an extra 15minutes today. And I drove my normal route on the FREEWAY, which cost me more time, stop-go, stop-go.

But before we go insane or act out on our mind-road rage... Let's say THANKS to the Monday - stuck in traffic cause I'm on my way to try and earn a salary (note: NOT money - a salary). Let's try for this week to look at the positive side of things.... who knows - we might just get to like it!
